Welcome to SCHS Chemistry! I am looking forward to another fabulous semester of learning. All of my course content and assessment activities are located in my Moodle site, which all students have unlimited access to.
In second semester this year, I am teaching Chemistry 20, Chemistry 30 and Math 10C . Course folders located in the left navigation contain course outlines and calendars for first semester courses.
For current and future assignments, please have your student visit Moodle, or check the course calendar.
This year SCHS has moved towards a focus block of 40 minutes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday rather than lunch hour tutorials. Students will be able to sign up for focus blocks that they feel they would benefit from. Chemistry specific focus blocks will be facilitated in a similar fashion to tutorials in that students can recieve additional support, as well as a place to complete homework assignments and lab writeups. Powerschool will serve as the portal for students to register for their flex blocks each week and induction to this process will begin in our first week of semester one.
My office hours are Thursdays from 3:15pm to 4:00pm, during which I am available for parent contact and conferences. As schedules can often conflict, I am also available by appointment, which are best arranged through phone or email.
I encourage parents/guardians to be actively involved in your child's school life. I believe when parents and teachers work together, children can be successful in their learning.
- Please visit powerschool bi-weekly so that you are up to date with your child’s assignments, class schedule/timelines, attendance, and marks.
- PowerSchool Parent How-To Guide
- Please have your son or daughter show you the Moodle course platform and/or notebook so that you are up to date with your child’s learning.
- Parents and gaurdians are encouraged to subscribe to our class (Google) calendar, which is available on this plone site (specific to each course). A daily overview of lesson ideas, assignments, laboratory days, deadlines and assessment dates are included, but are always subject to change due to the diverse needs and progress of our class. Changes will be updated promptly to ensure all stakeholders are informed.
